The Public Sound
Objects (PSOs) . is a Shared Sonic Environment, for experimental music available as an installation or as a web based system. It is targeted to the
general Public and it dos not require previous music knowledge. A user can join collaborative performance using a "Bouncing Ball Java Interface"
by manipulating Sound Objects in a central soundserver. The project was originaly created by Álvaro Barbosa during his visiting research period at the MTG - Barcelona.
Pulsing Heart - Pulsing Heart is an interactive installation project that was commissioned to Sofia Thenaisie, Renato Branco, Álvaro Barbosa and Luis Gustavo Martins by Porto's Casa da Musica in order to commemorate it's 5th Anniversary. The project consisted in an interactive system that measured real time heart pulses from visitors and mapped it in a periodic red light that covered the entire Casa da Musica from the outside to the inside. The closing of the project took place in April 14th of 2010 at Casa da Musica's hallways, with a live electronic performance that mapped it's musical outcome into pulses of light that spanned throughout the building.
Since September 2007 PSOs became a permanent installation at Casa da Música and is presently located at "Sala Renascença". Since then, the project development has been undertaken by CITAR - Porto. O Trovão - Is a 3D Animation Short Film produced at UCP - Escola das Artes, featuring many experimental techniques in order to achieve a stylistic visual style complemented with a sonic and musical environment that converged to a highly gratifying result. The team that produced this project included faculty members and students from UCP, as well as a group of independent musicians from Porto working on the Closing Theme "Thunder Surf" (André Hollanda, Pedro Vidal, Eurico Amorim and André Indiana).
